Adéle and Simon is a beautifully illustrated book about a sister and brother in Paris in the early 1900’s. Adéle picks her brother up from school, and they stop at many beautiful places in Paris. At every stop, Simon manages to lose something – much to Adéle’s chagrin!
It’s so much fun to look carefully over each illustration to find whatever it is that Simon lost at that stop!
Usually, you have to look pretty hard to find what he lost – the hardest for me to find was his scarf in the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. I won’t give away where it is – you will have to look for yourself!
At the end of the book, an exasperated Adéle finally arrives home with Simon and is about to tell their mother how he lost everything, when people from every stop arrive at their home and return Simon’s things!
We even found one of Brontë’s favorites, Madeline and the girls, in one of the illustrations…
