Book Review of Word After Word After Word by Patricia MacLachlan

Book Review of Word After Word by Patricia MacLachlan

My friends, David and Gracie, recommended Word After Word After Word to me. It was written by Patricia MacLachlan who also wrote the Sarah, Plain and Tall books (among many others). I really enjoyed this book, but it wasn’t one of Liam’s favorites. I think I would have enjoyed it at his age (11) mainly because I was an aspiring writer and had lots of thoughts and emotions that I felt I needed to express. You can click the link below to see what Liam has to say about Word After Word After Word.

Book Review of Wednesdays in the Tower by Jessica Day George

This is the second book in Jessica Day George’s Castle Glower series. Liam enjoyed Tuesdays at the Castle so much, he has been reminding me to get this new release to preview for him. (My review of the first book is here.)

Book Review of The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp by Kathi Appelt

Kathi Appelt’s The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp was published last year. As I was talking with one of the staff at our local bookstore, Blue Marble Books, he highly recommended this book as one of his favorite releases of 2013. Considering how many books they read through, that was a high enough recommendation for me to put this book on my list of must-reads!

Book Review of Paperboy by Vince Vawter

Paperboy is the first book written by Vince Vawter. It was published last year, and it’s been on Amazon’s top seller list ever since. I had a hard time getting a copy from my library because it was requested by lots of people, which raised my curiosity! When Liam saw the book, he was hoping to read it, so I pushed it to the top of my list of books to review.

Book Review of Frindle by Andrew Clements

Andrew Clements’ first chapter book, Frindle, has been around for a while, but I only heard about it recently. It was published in 1998, but I kept seeing it at the top of Amazon’s bestsellers for the 8-10 crowd, and I thought Paul might enjoy it. There are some illustrations in the copy I read, and it was fun to see the work of Brian Selznick (of The Invention of Hugo Cabret fame – you can read my review of that book here)
