What Mom Reads: The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook

What Mom Reads: The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook

I should preface this entire review by saying that I love to read cookbooks. I really enjoy cooking too, but I don’t always cook out of my cookbooks. More often than not, I turn to the internet to find the top-rated recipe of something I want to make or for suggestions of what to make with the ingredients I already have. I read cookbooks for the introductions to the recipes. I love reading the stories of why the author decided to include this particular variation or how they discovered this recipe. What Mom Reads: Ooh La La! by Jamie Cat Callen

Ooh La La by Jamie Cat Callen Book Review

As I have mentioned before, my mom and I love to read books about the secrets of French women. Lessons from Madame Chic by Jennifer L. Scott is still my number one favorite, but Jamie Cat Callen’s Ooh La La! It was like reading letters from a close friend I hadn’t seen for a while. I now feel like I’m practically best friends with Shauna Niequist, even though we’ve never met. 😉

Ya’ll, it rocked my world. I still don’t just dive into Numbers for light reading, but it was so life-giving to study those 5 books. And that was so the opposite of what I expected!
So, when I heard about an opportunity to review a book from a series called “Devotions from the Torah,” I jumped at it. Digging into those books is rich stuff! And then, I read the rest of the fine print and realized that this is also a giveaway for you guys with lots of stuff to win! [Read more…]
