We just finished up a fun weekend! David’s parents came for a visit, so there was good food, lots of games played together, and great conversations. They had given the girls a small swing set for Christmas, and it was finally warm enough to set it up this weekend. I think it was a frustrating process for the guys to put it together, but the girls were thrilled to have swings and a small slide that they can enjoy without help.
It was a lovely way to end the week. Earlier last week, I came down with a terrible head cold which brought on a headache that lasted 2 days straight. It really played havoc on my ability to work at all, but I was so very grateful that David was able to keep the house going and take care of everyone else while I rested. He did great, but I’ve got quite the workload ahead of me this week to catch up on writing and the business. Miraculously, no one else in our family has come down with it, and I am VERY thankful for that!
Brontë has been working on her reading with me during our school days. She read another entire reader this week, so she has been very proud to carry that book around to read to anyone who will listen!
Stella kept up her streak of mischief this week. While I was out with my cold, she found my notes on the latest book review I’m working on. When I read a book for the blog, I write all my notes in a notebook as I read and then assimilate that into my reviews. Anyway, she merrily scribbled and ripped out pages and pages of my notes… Thankfully, I’m pretty sure that I have been able to recover all the notes for the upcoming review, but it was not a happy moment when I discovered that pile of shredded papers!
We were missing our housemate, Tiffany, this week. She has settled into our routines easily, and has really been a huge help in easing the workload in several ways. Anyway, she had an out-of-town trip this week with a friend (which sounds fabulous), so we have missed having her here.
David and I finally filed our taxes this week! Last year was the most complicated fiscal year we’ve ever experienced as a family, so it was a huge relief to finally have everything filed and recorded. Normally, I’m one of those “weird” people who enjoy filling out forms, but even I was daunted this year. We pulled together and got it all turned in, though, so we both took a quick sigh of relief and then David turned around and made sure this year’s records were up-to-date and in order.
How was your week? Hope you didn’t have any sickness or tax challenges!
