The highlight of this week was a visit from David’s parents and grandmother! They came up for Easter weekend, and we had a great time celebrating together.
After beautiful weather the previous weekend, we woke up to snow on Tuesday morning! Thankfully, it was not much and soon passed, but it was quite a surprise to see in our trees. The rest of the week slowly warmed up, and we ended up having lovely warm weather this weekend – perfect for egg hunting! 😉
I had a midwife appointment this week. Everything is still going smoothly. My midwife said that it’s very normal for me to be so tired at this stage of pregnancy (about to start my third trimester next week!), and she recommended I start an iron supplement since my blood volume is working on doubling right about now. I’ve been better about drinking lots of water ever since my friend Becki gave me a great tip. She told me that she set her phone timer to remind her to drink water. What a brilliant, simple suggestion! I’ve been doing that hourly for the past month, and it has definitely helped me stay hydrated.
The kids and I kept our annual tradition of dying eggs with our dear friend, Wendi. She has had some health problems, so it was extra special this year to be able to keep up our tradition. Stella wanted all of her eggs to be pink, and most of the eggs somehow ended up all covered in stickers, but we all had a great time.
As I said before, David’s family came up again this weekend, and we had a great time cooking together, talking, and singing. The boys played countless games of chess with David’s dad (who is a tough man to beat), and lots of card games all around. We had a family Easter brunch, listened to Handel’s Messiah (a family tradition), read the story of Easter, and sang “Up From the Grave He Arose” before bringing out the children’s Easter treats and kicking off the egg hunt. After the egg hunt, we emptied the eggs and let the boys hid some for the girls to find, and Stella was quite shocked when she discovered the eggs were all empty. Thankfully, she recovered from her shock and soon discovered her own personal candy stash. It was quite the fun day of celebrating and feasting with family!
So that’s what we’ve been up to this week. How was your week? Did you wake up to snow as well? Hope you had a great Easter weekend! I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
