This was a big week for our family! We finally hit a small milestone in the business that has been hard for us to get to. Whew!
The boys have been attending Awana with some friends and they had their awards ceremony this week. They both had worked hard to memorize lots of verses, and they were very excited to get an award for all their work (not to mention time with their buddies!). We also spent the night with our like-family friends, the Mowrys. As always, it was a night of great food, wonderful company, and conversations well into the early morning hours. Pretty much perfect.
The big highlight of the week was our anniversary. David and I celebrate our wedding anniversary a little differently than most. We like to celebrate it as the beginning of our family, so we celebrate with the kids. We usually plan some kind of fun activity or day trip to have fun as a family. Since we had just hit a difficult goal with the business and it was our anniversary, it was definitely celebration time!
After our overnight with the Mowry’s, we started driving to Lexington without telling the kids where we were going. We were listening to an audiobook, so it took about an hour of driving before Liam asked if we were taking the long way home. It was a really fun moment when David explained where we were going. We booked a hotel in Lexington and spent 3 days swimming in the indoor pool, watching movies in the hotel room, and did a little exploring around Lexington. Mainly, it was just nice to unplug from everything and play together.
That’s the highlights of our week. How was yours? Do you have any special family traditions that put a twist on typical holidays? I would love to hear about them in the comments! Hope your week was great!
