Family Snapshots

This week, the preparation for baby increased in intensity. There was more cooking, cleaning, and organizing while we also tried to keep increasing our inventory listed on eBay. It was a busy week!

Liam finally got his wish to buzz his hair short for summer. This is the shortest his hair has been since he was a bald baby, so it’s taking a little time for us to get used to seeing him with such short hair. He was a little taken aback when he saw his reflection for the first time, but he’s enjoying it now. I also trimmed up Paul’s hair. He cracked me up when he told me that he could suddenly hear so much better with shorter hair. :)

Brontë told us a few weeks ago about all of the things she wants to be when she grows up: an artist, a baker, a cooker, a good babysitter, a midwife, a sewer [as in, someone who sews], a builder, and several other things I cannot remember at the moment. It was funny, but also really fun to tell her that she could be all of those things and even more if she wants to. She was excited to realize that she didn’t just have to be one thing – and it was a good reminder to me of how often we all dream too small.

Stella has been such a cuddly, loving little girl lately. She sings songs to me and tells me how much she loves me and everyone in the family. I don’t know if she really understands how life will change with this baby, but I am soaking up this cuddle time and savoring the last few days of her as our littlest one.

There was a “super moon” this weekend. I had spent all day working extra hard on deep cleaning and organizing, and between the extra work and maybe the moon, I was up all night with intermittent contractions. Obviously, I’m still pregnant now, but for a while we weren’t sure if the baby was going to come early or not! I spent the next day resting and things eased up. We have about a week to my due date now, so it’s any time between now and a couple weeks. I’m keeping busy with all those last minute things that seem to so urgently need cleaning and organizing, and trying to rest and relax as we prepare.

How was your week? Any drastic haircuts or crazy “super moon” stories? I’d love to hear about them!

  1. It has been really nice to see these Family Snapshots over the last 7 months since I made your Blog my home page. Andrea & I talk about them. :) However, it is also a reminder of just how much we are missing as your family grows and changes. It is intriguing to watch the kids as they develop and I’m challenged by David’s occasional posts on life and parenting. We love you guys!
